Whether hired to research, write, edit, or advise, Michael works quickly and thoroughly with words, relying on years of experience as a journalist, fiction writer, and writing teacher.

As a contract writer through Gotham Ghostwriters, Michael helped author Jim Hock research and write Hollywood’s Team: Grit, Glamour, and the 1950s Los Angeles Rams (Rare Bird Books, 2016). As a book doctor, Michael has most recently advised a debut author on her first two historical novels for St. Martin’s Press, offering structural and sentence-level insights. Michael has also worked as a writing coach for news organizations.

His range of writing experience includes politics, sports, personality profiles, feature stories, criticism, personal essays, book proposals, and, recently, a travel story datelined Poland. His fiction expertise includes historical fiction, literary short stories, and novels.
